Terms & Conditions

By purchasing, accessing, or enrolling in The Manuscript Intensive ("Program"), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not purchase or enroll.

1. Program Overview & What Coaching Is

The Manuscript Intensive is a 12-week, 1:1 book coaching engagement. It begins on the date of your Kickoff Call and ends 12 weeks thereafter.

Coaching is a collaborative, forward-moving process. It is not consulting, ghostwriting, or done-for-you service. As your coach, Jacob will guide, challenge, and hold you accountable — but the writing is yours. That's the point. Your manuscript will reflect your voice, your expertise, and your ideas because you wrote it.

We meet every week for the first month, then every other week through the remainder of the program — via video call. Didn't finish your chapter? We meet. Life got busy? We meet. Feeling stuck? That's exactly when we meet — because working through roadblocks is the work. You don't need your manuscript submission ready to get value from a call. Momentum is built in the meeting, not before it.

Missed calls, late starts, or incomplete assignments do not extend the engagement. The 12-week container exists to create the focus and urgency that are essential to finishing a book.

2. Roles & Responsibilities

Jacob's responsibilities: Show up prepared for every scheduled call, provide structured coaching and strategic direction, deliver async manuscript feedback within 48 business hours, and support your progress through every stage of the writing process.

Your responsibilities: Attend all scheduled coaching calls or provide at least 24 hours notice to reschedule, submit manuscript drafts and assignments in advance of calls where applicable, and complete the writing work between sessions. The clients who get the most out of this program are the ones who actively engage between calls — not just during them.

Failure to fulfill your responsibilities does not entitle you to a refund or extension of the engagement.

3. Intellectual Property & Manuscript Ownership

You retain full ownership of all manuscript content and materials you create during the Program. Your book is yours — period. Jacob does not take credit, co-authorship, or any ownership interest in your manuscript.

All coaching frameworks, feedback documents, templates, and proprietary tools shared during the Program are protected by copyright. You may not share, resell, or redistribute coaching materials, use proprietary frameworks to create a competing product, or record any coaching session without prior written consent. Violation may result in immediate termination without refund, legal action, and damages recovery.

4. Async Support

Async manuscript feedback is available for one chapter review per week with a 48 business hour turnaround. Async support does not include copy editing, proofreading, or ghostwriting.

5. Scheduling & Rescheduling

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to reschedule a call. Calls cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or missed without notice will be forfeited and not rescheduled. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate rescheduling requests but cannot guarantee specific time slots.

6. Refund Policy

All sales are final. No refunds will be issued after enrollment regardless of progress made, calls attended, or changes in personal or business circumstances.

If you are on a payment plan, you remain responsible for all scheduled payments regardless of whether you continue to participate. The single exception: if Jacob Ratliff is unable to fulfill the coaching engagement due to circumstances on our end, a prorated refund will be issued for unused sessions.

7. Payment Plans

If you enroll using the 3-payment option, all payments are mandatory and non-refundable. Failure to make a scheduled payment may result in suspension of coaching services until payment is received. Continued non-payment may result in termination of the engagement and pursuit of the outstanding balance.

8. No Guarantees of Results

We do not guarantee manuscript completion, publication, book sales, royalties, revenue, leads, clients, or business outcomes of any kind. Any examples, testimonials, or case studies shared are illustrative only. Your results depend on your effort, consistency, execution, and engagement with the program. By enrolling, you acknowledge that results are not guaranteed.

9. Earnings & Business Disclaimer

This Program may discuss authority building, lead generation, book sales, and business strategy. All income, growth, or outcome references are aspirational examples, not promises. You are solely responsible for all business decisions made during or after the engagement.

10. No Professional Advice

The Program does not provide legal, financial, accounting, tax, or publishing law guidance. You are responsible for ensuring your manuscript complies with applicable laws, copyright requirements, FTC disclosure requirements, and any platform terms of service. Consult appropriate professionals where necessary.

11. Confidentiality

Both parties agree to keep confidential any sensitive business information or proprietary materials shared during the engagement. Jacob Ratliff may reference the existence of the coaching relationship and general outcomes for marketing purposes unless you explicitly request otherwise in writing.

12. Record Retention

By enrolling, you provide written consent for Jacob Ratliff to retain notes, session recordings, and progress records related to your coaching engagement. This information is kept confidential and used solely to support your coaching experience.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits or revenue, business interruption, or data loss. Maximum liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for the Program.

14. Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

If you initiate a chargeback without contacting us first, coaching services may be immediately suspended, you may be sent to collections, and legal remedies may be pursued. We encourage resolution through direct communication before initiating any dispute.

15. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate the engagement immediately if the client engages in abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behavior, or violates any provision of these Terms. No refund will be issued in the event of termination for cause.

16. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated directly to active clients.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of North Carolina, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

18. Severability

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Jacob Ratliff Coaching & Consulting regarding the Program. No verbal statements modify these Terms.
